Traditional rice cultivation is essential for Thailand’s food supply but poses significant environmental challenges. Thailand is the fourth-largest emitter of CO2 emissions from rice cultivation in the world, accounting for about 60% of the total agricultural greenhouse gas emissions globally. Constantly maintaining water levels 10 cm above the soil across all rice fields results in high water usage and methane emissions from fermented weeds and insects, contributing to climate change.
At KhawTECH, we’re addressing these challenges with a highly affordable water level control system designed to make use of the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) technique. Our solution leverages LoRa technology, including sensor nodes, control nodes, and gateways, to manage water levels efficiently. By implementing the AWD method, we reduce water usage and greenhouse gas emissions while easing the farmers' workload.
